Ioannis P. Vasilopoulos is an obstetrician – surgeon – gynecologist, specialized in gynecological endocrinology and assisted reproduction and holds a Master’s degree in coelio-endoscopic surgery at the Rene Descartes University in Paris.
He finished high school at the Greco-French School Lycee Leonin and obtained a medical degree from the National and Capodistrian University of Athens in 1998. After the obligatory field doctor’s internship, he worked for one year as a specialist doctor, at the 1st University Surgical Clinic of the “Ippokrateio” Hospital of Athens.
Immediately after finishing his military service in the Greek Navy as the first medical doctor, he went to Switzerland, where he was trained in the years 2003-2008, in the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology. as part of the training program established by the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
The doctor worked in the obstetric and gynecological clinics of the Lausanne University Hospitals (CHUV, Prof. Pierre De Grandi), Geneva (HUG, Prof. JB Dubuisson) and the Nord Vaudois Hospital Establishments. (EHNV, Dr.med JF Bauen). During his multi-year stay in Switzerland, he earned the title of Clinic Leader and actively participated in the clinical training of students and medical specialists.
Following his specificity in obstetrics and gynecology, he continued his specialization in France, where he was trained in gynecological endocrinology and assisted reproduction at the University Hospital Cochin-St Vincent de Paul in Paris, where he worked until 2009 holding the position of the Attached Practitioner.
The gynecological endocrinology and IVF unit at Cochin-St. Vincent de Paul is one of the largest IVF units in Europe, being delivered to clinical research and human reproduction laboratory.
During this time, he worked closely with world-renowned professors Dominique de Ziegler and Charles Chapron, gaining solid experience in investigating and treating cases of infertile couples. In particular, he has dealt with endometriosis, premature ovarian failure and polycystic ovary syndrome. He has also been actively involved in the creation of intervention protocols for infertile patients with an oncological history (Onco-fertility).
The doctor Ioannis P. Vasilopoulos presents an important scientific work, founded in the writing of numerous medical works published mainly in magazines of valid validity in foreign languages. He is a member of many Greek and international scientific societies, such as the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics and that of Paris, the European Society for Assisted Reproduction, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine etc.
In April 2009, he settled in Athens as a scientific associate of the IASO maternity ward, and in 2015, together with fellow distinguished reproductive physicians, he founded the exemplary FIV Medical Center “Institute of Life”, having its headquarters at IASO.
At the same time, he continues to be a partner at Cochin-St. Vincent de Paul in Paris, where he regularly gives lectures as part of the master’s course at Paris V University “Gynecological Endocrinology and Reproduction.”
He is married to the pediatric interventional radiologist Sani Chlapoutaki and they have a daughter.
